Hello everyone, I'm Qahtan from Iraq. Today is the Autumn Equinox, when the sun shines directly on the Earth's equator, making day and night equal in length and balancing the warmth and cold.
Right now, it’s the busiest farming season—"plant one seed in spring, reap ten thousand in autumn." Across China, the fields are filled with vibrant scenes of harvesting and sowing. Since 2018, the Autumn Equinox has also become the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Look at the drying grounds—chilies and corn come together to create a beautiful picture of abundance. In the vast farmlands, elderly farmers beam with joy as they hold freshly harvested rice.
In ancient times, the Autumn Equinox was also the traditional Moon Worship Festival. Emperors would hold ceremonies to honor the moon goddess. Over time, this festival evolved into the Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, both serving as occasions to express longing for home and the hope for reunion.
The Autumn Equinox, with its equal day and night, teaches us to embrace balance in life. May we all find our own balance—feel what’s warm or cold, and know when to stretch and when to ease.
